King and Queen to visit Wales for Senedd's 25th anniversary

King Charles III and Queen Camilla are set to visit Wales on Thursday to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Welsh Parliament.

This visit marks King Charles' first appearance at the Senedd since his UK tour following his investiture. Upon arrival, the royal couple will receive a guard of honour from the Royal Welsh and be greeted by primary school children from across Wales.

During their visit, they will meet First Minister Vaughan Gething, along with other party and parliamentary leaders in Wales. Inside the Senedd, the King and Queen will enjoy a performance by Mared Pugh-Evans, the King's new harpist, in her debut performance in the role. A choir from Ysgol Treganna, a local primary school, will also perform.

King Charles will deliver a speech commemorating the 25th anniversary of the Senedd. Before departing, the King and Queen will meet community members and Senedd staff who have worked at the parliament for 25 years.

During his last visit to the Senedd, King Charles, who was the Prince of Wales for 64 years, delivered his first address in Welsh as Monarch, noting that Wales held a "special place" in the heart of his mother, Elizabeth II. Photo by Mark Tantrum, Wikimedia commons.
