A homeless man has pleaded guilty to murdering a woman in her west London home, just days after she offered him shelter.
Victoria Adams, 37, was found dead at her flat in Hammersmith on 9 February. Police discovered her face down in a bedroom with a bin bag over her head, covered by a pillow. She had suffered at least 10 head injuries caused by a blunt weapon, believed to be a mallet later recovered with her blood and DNA on it.
Her killer, 39-year-old Apapale Adoum, had met Ms Adams only three days earlier while staying at a homeless shelter. She initially allowed him to stay in her flat but later left him a note asking him to leave.
Officers were called to Coulter Road after reports of an attempted break-in, where Adoum was arrested at the scene.
At the Old Bailey, Judge Nigel Lickley KC confirmed Adoum would receive a life sentence, to be formally imposed on 24 October. He has been remanded in custody until then.
