Aliyah from the UK has risen by more than 70 percent since 2023, driving one of the country’s main aliyah support organisations to launch an urgent £65,000 fundraising appeal to cope with
soaring demand.
New data from the Jewish Agency shows the number of British Jews immigrating to Israel increased from 391 in 2023 to 577 by October 2025. That rise includes a dramatic 76 percent jump between 2023 and 2024, followed by a further 20 percent increase this year. Early projections suggest the upward curve will continue into 2026.
Shivat Zion, the UK-based aliyah guidance charity officially authorised by the Jewish Agency, says interest has reached unprecedented levels. The organisation is now inundated with requests from families and individuals seeking help with both the immigration process and preparation for life in Israel.
In the first 11 months of 2025, Shivat Zion received 25 percent more requests for support than during the whole of 2024. Use of its online tools rose by 30 percent across the same period. Overall, the charity says it is now providing around 150 percent more support than it did in 2023.
The organisation believes the surge reflects a Europe-wide shift following the 7 October attacks, with rising antisemitism increasingly influencing long-term decisions about security and identity.
In 2025 alone—up to November—Shivat Zion handled more than 500 complex aliyah cases, processed roughly 5,000 individual assistance requests and arranged hundreds of one-to-one preparation meetings. That workload represents a further 30 percent increase on last year, with several weeks still remaining.
Shraga Evers, the charity’s CEO, described the trend as a “remarkable wave of commitment” among British Jews.
“Every day we speak with families searching for a better future and a trusted partner to guide them,” he said. “Our team is working around the clock, yet the need continues to grow. We must ensure no one is left without help at a time when aliyah has become both a lifeline and a calling.”
The charity’s year-end fundraising push, launched during Chanukah, aims to secure resources to maintain free, personalised aliyah and integration support throughout 2026 and beyond. Donations made in the UK are eligible for Gift Aid.
