Speaker of the House of Commons retains nearly 300 gifts, including skincare products and pet toys

Sir Lindsay Hoyle, the Speaker of the House of Commons, has accepted and retained close to 300 gifts over the past four years. The collection includes a diverse range of items such as

skincare products, pet toys, and numerous bottles of alcohol.

In addition to these, the Speaker has also kept gifts like drinking glasses, cufflinks, chocolates, and even a rug. Some of the presents were from foreign dignitaries, while others came from fellow UK politicians, including Conservative MP Priti Patel.

As the individual responsible for maintaining order in parliamentary proceedings, Sir Lindsay’s extensive list of retained gifts has drawn public attention and curiosity. Photo by Richard Townshend, Wikimedia commons.
