Prince William of Britain met with South Africa’s President Cyril Ramaphosa in Cape Town on Tuesday. The two leaders discussed a range of topics of mutual interest, according to a statement
from the presidency.
The Prince of Wales, who is on a four-day visit to South Africa, is in the country to attend various engagements, including the Earthshot Prize annual awards ceremony. The presidency described the visit as a reflection of the strong and historic ties between the United Kingdom and South Africa, as well as a step toward strengthening these connections.
“The President and Prince William held discussions on a number of key issues of mutual interest. The visit is indicative of the strong ties the United Kingdom, including the Royal Family, share with South Africa and serves as another step toward deepening these historic ties,” the statement read.
The South African presidency also highlighted the significance of the Earthshot Prize ceremony being hosted in the country. The event draws attention to climate change and environmental challenges, especially the impact on the African continent.
