Prince William meets football legends on a momentous night for Aston Villa

The Prince of Wales was on hand to support his beloved Aston Villa during one of their most significant matches in recent history.

For the first time since its inception in 1992, Aston Villa competed in the prestigious Champions League, a moment eagerly awaited by fans.

While the Champions League replaced the European Cup over three decades ago, Aston Villa's last triumph in that competition dates back to 1982—the year Prince William was born—when they famously lifted the European Cup. Ahead of this pivotal match, the future king had the chance to meet the football legends who made history 42 years ago.

Members of the 1982 winning squad gathered at Villa Park to offer their well-wishes to the current team, and they also found time to chat with their biggest royal fan, Prince William.

As usual, the official social media accounts of the Prince and Princess of Wales were filled with claret and blue in support of Aston Villa, with William wishing his team the best of luck.

His hopes were realized as Aston Villa secured a memorable victory, defeating European giants Bayern Munich 1-0. It was a night to remember for both the club and its royal supporter. Photo by USAID/Vietnam, Wikimedia commons.
