Man faces charges in £600,000 keyless car theft investigation

 

A 27-year-old man from Spalding, Lincolnshire, has been charged in connection with a string of keyless car thefts totaling over £600,000 across Cambridgeshire, Lincolnshire, and

Leicestershire. Karolis Tauckela stands accused of conspiring to steal twelve high-value vehicles, including models such as Porsche, BMW, and Mercedes-Benz, between August 2023 and June 2024.

Following his arrest in Haslingfield, Cambridgeshire, Mr. Tauckela appeared before magistrates in Cambridge and was subsequently granted bail. Conditions of his bail require him to surrender his passport, wear an electronic tag, and adhere to a curfew from 21:00 to 06:00 BST.

In addition to the theft charges, Mr. Tauckela faces allegations of handling stolen goods and possession of equipment for theft, specifically two vehicle frequency relay devices and an antenna booster.
