Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have launched a new website, Sussex.com, which has replaced their previous platform, Archewell. The site automatically redirects
users from Archewell to Sussex.com and prominently features the couple's official royal titles, referring to them as "The Duke & Duchess of Sussex."
The main web page of Sussex.com is dominated by a picture of the couple, accompanied by the text: “The Office of Prince Harry & Meghan, The Duke & Duchess of Sussex.” Additionally, a royal coat of arms is displayed.
In the “About” section of the website, it is stated: “The Office of Prince Harry and Meghan, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex is shaping the future through business and philanthropy. This includes: The Archewell Foundation, Archewell Productions, patronages, ventures, and organisations which receive the support of the couple, individually and/or together.”
Individual biographies of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle highlight their respective roles and achievements. Harry is recognized as a “humanitarian, military veteran, mental health advocate, and environmental campaigner,” while Meghan is described as a “feminist and champion of human rights and gender equity,” having been acknowledged as “one of the most influential women in the world” in various rankings.
The transition to Sussex.com follows the replacement of the Sussex Royal brand with Archewell after the couple stepped back from their royal duties. The name Archewell was inspired by their son Archie, combining the Greek word “arche,” meaning source of action, with “well” as “a plentiful source or supply; a place we go to dig deep.”
The new website connects users to the couple’s non-profit organization, the Archewell Foundation, and their production company, Archewell Productions.
The launch of Sussex.com coincides with a challenging period for the royal family, as the King's reduced public appearances due to his cancer diagnosis and the Princess of Wales' absence following abdominal surgery have placed additional strain on the monarchy. Prince Harry, currently residing in California with Meghan and their two children, recently traveled to the UK to meet with the King in light of his health concerns. Despite his visit, there was no meeting between Harry and his brother, the Prince of Wales, as Harry spent approximately 45 minutes with Charles at Clarence House before returning to the US.
