Gary Lineker once again led the BBC pay list in the 2023-24 financial year, earning over £1.35 million ($1.74 million) for his role as the presenter of "Match of the Day"
and other sports coverage for the British broadcaster.
The BBC, funded by a licence fee paid by TV-watching households, is required to disclose the salaries of its top presenters and journalists.
However, many of its best-known presenters are absent from the list because their salaries are paid by production companies, including the BBC's own entertainment unit, which produces shows like "Strictly Come Dancing."
Lineker, a former England player and top scorer for Leicester City, Everton, and Tottenham Hotspur, has been the face of BBC Sport for 25 years and is often criticized by viewers for his high earnings from the public service broadcaster.
In the news division, Huw Edwards was the highest-paid presenter, receiving more than £475,000. Edwards, who announced the death of Queen Elizabeth II to Britain in 2022, was taken off air in July 2023 following allegations that he had paid a young person for explicit photos. He resigned in April this year based on medical advice.
Radio presenter Zoe Ball maintained her second place on the list, earning over £950,000 for hosting the breakfast show on BBC Radio 2, according to the broadcaster's annual report published on Tuesday.
