Prince Harry 'furious' over backlash to spare as publishers remain silent on future releases

Prince Harry is reportedly "furious" over the backlash he received following the release of his memoir, Spare. The controversial book, which delves into his experiences

within the Royal Family, has sparked significant criticism.

Royal commentator Rebecca English speculated that Harry likely earned a "substantial amount" from the book's sales. However, she also noted the "massive personal backlash" he faced as a result of the memoir’s revelations about the Royals.

Charlotte Griffiths, editor of the Mail on Sunday, suggested that Harry is probably upset with the public's reaction to his book. She explained on the Palace Confidential podcast, "I don't think he regrets writing it. He found the process incredibly cathartic, and he doesn't regret that. But yes, he will regret how it was received. However, I don’t believe he has the self-awareness to place the blame on himself."

Griffiths added, "He’ll be furious with everyone else for not reacting the way he hoped. But what did he really expect? He thought he had every right to share his perspective, but he’s clearly struggling with the response."

Rebecca English also reached out to Penguin Random House, the publisher of Spare, and was informed that there are currently "no announcements to make." When asked about a potential paperback edition, the publisher responded simply with "No, we haven’t."

English speculated that Harry might reconsider publishing another book. "If he were to release a new edition, he would likely need to include an updated chapter. Perhaps he’s realized it might not be worth the effort," she said.

Despite the commercial success of Spare, Harry has acknowledged that discussing more private family matters could irreparably damage his relationships with his father, King Charles, and his brother, Prince William. He had previously suggested that he had enough material for another book.

The memoir follows a series of high-profile revelations, including the Sussexes' Netflix documentary and their controversial Oprah Winfrey interview. Spare particularly shocked the monarchy with its allegations, such as Harry’s claim that William physically attacked him and criticisms of Charles' parenting.
